About Claire

Growing up on the back of a tandem from age 5, Claire enjoyed many years of cycle touring throughout the UK and France, cycling with her club the Altrincham Ravens, and eventually getting her own road bike.

Age 13 Claire traveled to the Pyrenees to watch the Tour de France and cycle up some of the famous cols such as the Aubisque and Tourmalet). A bit later she discovered the Alps and loved the challenge of climbing up the infamous Galibier and Izoard and other major climbs loaded with panniers!

After some successful years as a Juvenile and Junior rider, including being National schools TT, Crit and Track 500m champion and being selected to ride on the National Junior Girls Squad, Claire chose to concentrate on her education, gaining a degree in European Languages and business, and then later on a teaching degree.

After graduating, she felt there was some unfinished business, so found a job in France age 22, joined a French racing team and raced for a year in and around Brittany, culminating in racing in an International stage race she had watched as a young girl, and finishing in the top 20 which was a dream come true.

In her late 30s after time away from the scene bringing up a young family (now teens), Claire returned to cycling as she felt something was still missing! She had always wanted to participate in the World Masters Track Championships but had never felt fit enough or had the confidence to participate at such a high level. There she met and started working with James as her coach, and the rest is history! She raced at the Worlds, smashed some PBs, and they went on to become best mates and partners in crime!

Next stop, Podium at the World Masters Track Champs!
